Dog rules on Wye Valley walks and attractions: Symonds Yat Rock, Tintern Abbey, the Wye Valley Walk and council PSPOs
Most Wye Valley sights welcome dogs on leads, but the details differ. Cadw castles and abbeys allow ground floors only, Goodrich Castle allows dogs indoors, and the Butterfly Zoo keeps pets out of the zoo and cafe. Councils on both sides of the border have dog PSPOs with exclusion zones and £100 fixed penalties.

Dog-friendly Monmouth and Tintern: pubs, cafes, hotels and the abbey
Tintern is one of the most dog-friendly villages on the Wye, and several venues spell out exactly where dogs can go. Monmouth has fewer venues with a written policy. Monmouthshire's dog PSPO keeps dogs out of many play areas and pitches, and the fixed penalty is £100.

Dog-friendly Symonds Yat: which pubs, rooms and attractions let dogs in
Symonds Yat is a dog-walking honeypot, but the venues are split. Some welcome dogs in a few areas or rooms, and some well-known riverside inns don't allow dogs in their bedrooms at all. Self-catering near the Rock is the easiest option.
