Taking a bike on GWR: reservations, peak restrictions and the Night Riviera
GWR recommends reserving a bike space (it's mandatory on the Night Riviera sleeper). Unreserved bikes aren't carried on trains arriving at Paddington 07:30–09:30 or leaving 16:00–19:00, and folded folding bikes with wheels up to 20 inches travel unrestricted.

Taking a bike on LNER: free, but you must reserve
Bikes travel free on LNER but a reservation is compulsory on every service. Bikes must be under 25 kg and 200 cm long; folded folding bikes need no reservation.
