Not clear from the source
- This is a time-limited pilot. Whether it continues after 30 November 2026 depends on a council committee decision – check the page before planning a 2027 trip.
- The council says waste disposal facilities are nearby at Burghead Harbour but doesn't describe them on this page.
A small, time-limited trial
This one comes with a big caveat: it's a pilot, running 1 April to 30 November 2026, and it has room for just two self-contained campervans or motorhomes. Moray Council chose Burghead because of local support and the availability of waste disposal facilities nearby at Burghead Harbour, following a 2025 public consultation that drew more than 2,200 responses.
The rules
- Station Road car park, Burghead.

What happens next
The council says it will monitor complaints and compliments, income and community feedback, and present the results to committee to help decide on an overnight stay scheme. So treat this page as "true for 2026" – we'll re-check after the pilot ends.
Parking (not sleeping) elsewhere in Moray
The same council page lists two other places where campervans and motorhomes can park – but sleeping, camping and cooking are prohibited at both:
- Lossie Green Car Park, Elgin (IV30 1RJ) – 13 lorry bays suitable for motorhomes. Since 1 April 2024 the daily charge for oversized vehicles is £7 (monthly permit £80). Standard bays are £2 a day, and if you occupy two bays you need two tickets. Pay and display runs Monday to Saturday, 8am to 6pm.
- Keith Lorry Park (AB55 5HJ) – open-air, no time restriction, no marked bays, currently free.
